Hearth Cooking Class
The Guilford Keeping Society conducts lessons in 18th and 19th century methods of cooking over an open hearth. Students learn the basics of hearth cooking, including stewing, baking in a beehive brick oven and roasting in a tin reflector oven. Then they feast on the things they have cooked. Classes are held at the Thomas Griswold House Museum. A donation of $35 for Society members or $40 for non-members covers the cost of food, firewood and instructors for the class. The class size is limited and advance reservations are required. Call Bob Donahue at 203 453-2500 for reservations (required) or further information.
Refer to our Calendar of Events for the dates scheduled.
